Since my terrible mid week post things haven’t been too bad. We went to the Zoo at http://www.wildlifeoasis.co.uk/ and everyone had a great time. I would recommend it to anyone who lives in the area. We travelled for approx 90 minutes to get there but we had a half price voucher from http://toptowndeals.com/, for this price it was well worth the money.
There was plenty to see and their saying is perfect “The small zoo with lots to do”. There was fish, insects, reptiles, birds, monkeys, meerkats, snow leopards …
Then yesterday my boy had won a competition to be part of the guard of honour at the first match of the season for Carlisle United. (Jamie stayed at home with Grandma). So we went on the train, which was fun, got to Brunton Park, had a burger (best burger I have ever tasted) and went into the reception. Joe received a goody bag and was told about his job waving his flag as part of the guard welcoming the teams onto the pitch. It was at this point I realised that I needed a ticket (I would have thought this would have been included TBH) so off we went to get a ticket. The ques were huge and this resulted in Joe nearly missing being part of the guard of honour – but we got there just in time!!
I was stood behind him so couldn’t see his face while the players walked out, but he said it was “Epic”.
We then went into the stands to watch the match and although Carlisle lost 5-1 we still had a great time.
Incidentally Joe has been selected to be the mascot for Carlisle United on Wednesday when they play Blackburn Rovers. He will get a tour of the pitch, get a kick about, meet the players and then lead the team on. He is so excited, as am I – ladies you will understand – here is the team captain that we get to hang out with 🙂
